According to dermatologists, American people shower way too much than necessary. Your body can be perfectly fine without showering every day, except if you are going to the gym every day. Your body is much cleaner than you think.
Being too clean is not healthy because it prevents the formation of good bacteria on the skin. These good bacteria protect your body from harmful infections and toxic chemicals that can enter your body through skin. Showering too much leaves your skin unprotected and vulnerable to toxins.
Too much hot water can dry and irritate your skin. This is particularly important to bear in mind in the winter, when the weather is cold and the skin is more susceptible to being dry. Therefore, you should avoid showering every day, unless you do it with cold water.
Showering every day will make your hair dry and dull. Try to go a couple of days without washing it and you will see that your hair will be softer, smoother, shinier and healthier. In case you have to shower every day, buy a shower cap and wash your hair only 2-3 times a week.
People who have skin problems such as eczema or rosacea should avoid showering every day. Also, if you suffer from irritated skin or rashes, you should stay away from hot water as much as possible.
