They are uncomfortable and are constant reminders of being utterly helpless we are in front of them. But you know, they are doing more than that. They are more evil than we think they are.
Bras are a divisive symbol; some consider them a ludicrous invention, others as a tool for emancipation. Scientifically speaking, the most notorious research on bras and breasts came out a couple of years ago.
Sport science researcher Jean-Denis Rouillon, a professor based at the University of Franche-Comte in the eastern town of Besançon, led a team that conducted a 15-year study on the effect of bras on 330 women aged 18 to 35.
The findings suggested that wearing a bra from an early age did nothing to help support the chest, reduce back pain or prevent breast sagging.
Breasts gain no benefit from being denied gravity. On the contrary, they get saggier with a bra.
The researchers believe that young women would gain more tone and supporting breast tissue if no bra were used.
In the study, women that stopped wearing bras – through choice, not as a requirement of the study – had a 7-millimeter (0.3-inch) lift in their nipples when compared with regular bra users. Bras, they claim, could hamper circulation and reduce breast tone over time.
It should be stated that an ill-fitting bra is the main cause of trouble, but the majority of women are wearing bras that are too tight, therefore causing the problems associated with it. It is definitely better to be safe than sorry Below are the dangers of regularly wearing bras:
1.Circulation is one of the main things that suffer when you sleep in your bra, particularly if the bra is underwire. If the wire is too tight against your skin, your pectoral muscles will be constricted, affecting the circulation of nerves in your arms. In addition, a bra with tight compression like a sports bra can hurt breast tissue if worn too often because of constantly restricted circulation.
2. Another significant side-effect of wearing an ill-fitting bra to bed is skin irritation. The hooks can protrude into your skin, as well as the straps, that can actually cause lesions or even cysts if left for too long (particularly if the bra is underwire).
3. This same issue can cause restlessness due to the slight irritation that is preventing you entering into a deep sleep.
4. Hyperpigmentation can also occur due to straps and hooks that are too tight and in constant contact with the skin, causing darkening of that particular area.
5. Breast fungus is an additional ramification of wearing an ill-fitting bra regularly. The warm and moist environment can be a breeding ground for fungi, and because the majority of woman spend most of their lives wearing a bra, the development of a breast fungus can be likely.
