Being Too Nice Can Contribute to Depression – HealthyTipsAdvice

For some people, being too nice can actually contribute to depression. In fact, getting rid of your depression may actually require giving up on other’s approval.

Many individuals who fight with depression are people-pleasers at heart – even as others may tell you are self-involved and selfish. That’s exactly the opposite of what’s true!

For many of us, we channel that into further attempts to please people – to always put others ahead of our own selves. That’s not good for us, either!

Perhaps you’ve heard “You teach people how to treat you.” The truth is, you’ve struggled for so many years to please people that you’ve never really stood up for yourself – which only helps convince others to take advantage of you.

But here’s the thing: You’re the only person that matters. How you feel about yourself is the only thing that matters. NOT what others think of you.

If you care too much about others, they will care too little for you. It’s time to take your life back.

There are people who have taken advantage of you who will push back against you taking care of yourself. That’s okay. Take care of yourself first!

Be ready to let go of those things that hold you back, that don’t help you put yourself first.

Make yourself OK with being alone for now. Make yourself comfortable with being with… YOU. Get to know yourself.

Find out exactly what your needs and desires are and then become unstoppable in fulfilling them! Be selfish. You’ve been accused of it so many times before, now it’s time for you to show others (and yourself) how selfish you can really be! Show them that you mean business…

Renounce the guilt. Let go of it. Completely. It’s time to release it.

Be your number one. Be bold. Be spontaneous. Learn to be yourself in every situation and around everyone.

This is how you start to love yourself…and how you move away from your depression.
