Showering is an important part of our daily lives. Often, due to time constraints, shopwering takes precedence over taking a long bath. Hygiene is definitely something nobody should skip and showering enables us to clean ourselves quickly and efficiently.
But did you know that there are certain habits that we do in the shower that are actually not that helpful? Far from it, actually.
So, without further ado, here are the 11 things that you should keep in mind when you shower:
1. Hair Care
Hair is delicate. If you’re one of those people who wash your hair daily, you might want to rethink that because you’re probably making your scalp too dry and even irritated. If you have thin hair, cleaning your hair once a week with shampoo and conditioner is fine. If you have thick locks, twice a week is the rule of thumb.
2. There is such a thing as too much showering
Everyone loves showering, especially during the summer. Heck, there are some people who can spend hours in the shower but did you know that too much showering can ruin the moisture in your skin? Actually, the recommended shower time is about 5 to 10 minutes.
3. Try harder to clean those hard to reach places
We all know that the back and the feet are not that easy to reach when it comes to washing up, but do try your best if you want to rid your body of those dead cells and bacteria.
4. Dry your sponge
That thing has all of your dead skin cells, so clean it up a bit!
Don’t wait ‘til your body is all dried up! Apply moisturizer to keep your skin soft and smooth.
6. Easy on the towel!
Of course, you have to dry yourself up after taking a bath but take it easy when rubbing it on your skin.
7. Workout? Wash Out!
Sweat plus germs equals odor, so always wash up after working out!
8. Consider showering with warm water.
Of course, there are plenty of people who love ice cold showers but did you know that a warm bath can help your blood flow easier, make your skin look fresher, and give you an antidepressant effect? Now that’s a good deal!
9. Just the tip!
When it comes to conditioners, apply it just to the tips of your hair or you’ll end up with a greasy and icky scalp.
10. Don’t wrap your hair up after showering!
It damages your hair! So the next time you have wet hair, just use your towel to pat it dry. Otherwise, you and your hair are going to have a terrible time!
11. Shave safe!
When it comes to shaving your body hair, use a gel or foam! Don’t just use running water because that can actually give you severe skin irritation caused by friction.
