Home-Made Walnut Liqueur – Home Remedy for Digestion and Thyroid Gland – HealthyTipsAdvice

In the folk medicine for hundreds of years it is used as natural remedy for thyroid gland and digestion of food. The recipe for its preparation can be found in monastic records, in old notes of old herbalists and notepads in some houses of former aristocrats because for centuries it served as universal tonic for healthy digestion.

Today it serves a “first aid” for many who have stomach problems and as a natural remedy for anemia and strengthening of blood. It is about walnut liqueur, home curative liqueur which is prepared these days of young, still green fruits of walnut.

Immature fruits of walnut, with soft environment are natural wealth of vitamin C and iodine, so due to it, from ancient times are used for variety of products that are helping the thyroid gland, especially in case of reduced work – hypothyroidism.

Liqueur from walnuts is equally effective in the relief of digestion, diarrhea, constipation, heartburn, flatulence, to stomach cramps and stomach infections.

We are introducing the most famous, traditional folk recipe in which different ingredients for taste can be added (vanilla, orange slices, etc.)


  • 12 young, green walnuts
  • 400gr (14oz) brown sugar (or honey, by desire)
  • 4 pinks
  • 1 lemon, cut into pieces
  • 1 liter of homemade brandy


Wash the walnuts, if they are smaller, just cut them and if they are larger, cut them on halves. Wash the lemon and cut it into pieces. Add sugar (or honey), pinks and homemade brandy on the walnuts and lemons and stir the mixture well, in order to melt the sugar better.

Close the bottle well and keep it on sun for 40 days. Every day, shake the bottle but do not open it. After 40 days, strain the liqueur through gauze, pour it into a bottle and keep it in dark and cool place.

For natural treatment of the thyroid gland, you need to drink 1 small cup of liqueur daily, in the morning on an empty stomach.

For stomach problems and anemia, the recommended dose is 1 small cup in the morning and 1 at night.
