If you’re someone who basically lives in the kitchen and loves to cook, you probably already know that lemongrass or as we locally know it, “tanglad,” has plenty of uses when it comes to Asian cuisine. Whether it’s in a soup, a marinade, or over just something to make your rice have that fresh kick, this grass can do it all.
But… did you know that Lemongrass has plenty of health benefits and is something that you should probably use more. Back in the old days, people actually thought that lemongrass can cure medical conditions like rheumatism, anxiety, acne, and even fever.
To be fair, making a soup out of chicken stock, lemongrass, salt and pepper, maybe a little bit of ginger will definitely wake your senses up and clear your stuffed nose. Also, it tastes GOOD.
Here are the benefits that you can get from Lemongrass:
1. Helps with Digestion
When it comes to your tummy, this ”grass” has an antiseptic compound that can take down bad bacteria and even some parasites in your digestive tract.
2. Bad Cholesterol? Good Solution.
This grass also has anti-cholesterol and anti-atherosclerosis so you can bet that those intestines of yours will be smooth and clear in no time.
3. Clean Taste, Clean Body.
Apart from the refreshing taste, drinking it in tea form is perfect for a cleanse. A cup or a teapot of this will help you remove toxins, uric acid, and bad cholesterol!
4. Kiss Fever and Flu Goodbye!
With antibacterial and anti-fungal properties with a side of vitamin C, your immune system will be happy with your dinner.
5. Smash Cancer!
A University in Israel said that their research shows that lemongrass can indeed fight cancer! There’s something in the grass that can destroy cancer cells while keeping out of your healthy ones.
