Taking psychedelic drugs does not result in the impairment of mental health and neither does it cause depression. These facts are based off a recent study published by the Journal of Psychopharmacology.
Lysergic Acid Diethylamide or LSD, Psilocybin and Mescaline were the three hallucinogens that were tested in the study. Reports from the study indicate the following. “no significant associations between lifetime use of psychedelics and increased likelihood of past year serious psychological distress, mental health treatment, suicidal thoughts, suicidal plans and suicide attempt, depression and anxiety.”
9 times out of 10 people who partake in these hallucinogens for themselves usually have good things to say. Some say they have the feeling of being more aware of self and life, or that it was a mind opening experience.
For thousands of years human beings have indulged in magic mushrooms and for years LSD (especially in the 1960’s) has been popular amongst individuals seeking enlightenment. Psilocybin can cause beneficial personality changes associated with imagination, art, emotional feelings and enlightenment.
This study was conducted at the John Hopkins University of Medicine in Baltimore and found that even as little as one mushroom can cause these positive personality changes for up to a year.
According to the scientists involved in the study, being open leads to greater success in life.
Psychedelics often elicit deeply personally and spiritually meaningful experiences and sustained beneficial effects. Overall, it is difficult to see how prohibition of psychedelics can be justified as a public health measure.
Studies like these being conducted are changing our society and people’s thoughts on hallucinogens for the better with out a doubt. It’s no surprise to some of you as you already know at first hand the benefits that come from hallucinogens. The War on Drugs should not be associated with hallucinogens or cannabis because they’re beneficial unlike all the other ‘drugs.’ Cannabis has slowly made it’s way to become legalized and what does that tell you. Now don’t get me wrong this doesn’t mean we should start eating magic mushrooms for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Everything in moderation…
Too much of anything can kill you is a classic saying we’re all aware of. So partaking in hallucinogens should be done responsibly and in moderation to reap the benefits and prove the nay sayers wrong.
