Shockingly, our grandparents never experienced the problem of a food allergy.
With every incoming generation, the rise in food allergies is becoming apparent. The Center for Disease Control and Prevention published a study in 2013, saying that food allergies had risen 50 percent in children between 1997 and 2011. Food allergy/sensitivity testing wasn’t around so it was hard to diagnose it to kids, so this can be debated.
Here are 7 reasons why our grandparents never had issues with food allergies:
1) They ate real seasonal food.
Our grandparents ate food that came straight out of a farm or a small market in the 1900’s. Without the presence of preservatives, food was certified organic and free of pesticides. There was no processed food, and their diets were nutrient-based and provided sufficient nutrition. When it came to infants, they were administered breast milk during all seasons.
2) They didn’t diet and play restrictive games with their body and metabolism. They ate food when food was available.
Our grandparents didn’t fall to greedy corporate marketing tactics to persuade us to buy into their unhealthy food. They weren’t subject to diets and calorie counting (this was mainly due to marketing being limited). They had better health and had reduced cravings.
They never had processed food on their store shelves or in their garden patch. If they had the option to eat out, it wasn’t frequent, but rare. This helped to increase longevity and stamina in our grandparents.
4) They didn’t eat GMO’s, food additives, stabilizers, and thickeners.
Their food was left unscathed by additives, hormones, and antibiotics as they weren’t around in their younger days. There was no way to preserve food at the time.
They even used, saved and bought animal bones to boost taste in soups and broths, and organs were given a spot at the center of the table. Medicinal properties were found to be in bones, so they never let them be tossed out.
6) They didn’t go to the doctor when they felt sick or take prescription medications. Doctor visits were saved for accidental injuries and life-threatening illness.
Our grandparents never had the medical advancements we have today, and when they had a fever, cold or the flu, they had to resort to soups, broths and tons of rest for treatment. There wasn’t a nurse or doctor on hand to be at their side to watch over their condition. They had medicine from their food and thats why they had less health issues than we do now.
7) They spent lots of time outside.
Our beloved grandparents always had their minds on imagination and being around other kids. They had no iPads, or cellphones, and never had to take selfies. They relied on the playground where there are swingsets, bikes and monkey bars. They even played out in the woods and got to do more recreational activities than todays generations do.
What we eat affects our body, and our cells rely heavily on our lifestyle and dietary routine. Our cells are responsible for tissue building and cell regeneration.
Our organs and cells need nutrition to maintain homeostasis and structural integrity of cellular memory and strength. If you have a poor diet, your body tissues, cells, and organs will suffer from the consequences and face a serious food allergy.
