Your kidneys are important because they function as a filtration system that gets rid of any unwanted and potentially harmful toxins and substances.
Although kidneys can take quite a beating, especially when you drink heavily or eat too much junk food, it’s still recommended that you take good care of them.
It’s always good to be reminded of a few things we could be taking for granted.
Here are 5 unhealthy habits that could be damaging your precious, hard-working kidneys.
1.) BINGE DRINKING – Drinking too much alcohol is pretty bad for you, both for your kidneys and your wallet. Your kidneys can only filter so much alcohol.
2.) SMOKING – Smoke from nicotine directly damages various organs and can slow down their functions, eventually rendering them useless.

3.) HOLDING YOUR PEE – Urine is the product of your kidney’s efforts to filter out the body’s toxins. It contains a lot of substances that your body is trying to get rid of and holding it in can result in kidneys stones.
4.) TOO MUCH JUNK FOOD – It’s time to let go of the kid inside you and put your foot down whenever you pass by the junk food aisle in the grocery store. Junk food and fast food are typically processed and full of sodium and sugars that can cause kidney complications.
5.) NOT EXERCISING – After all the food you consumed during the holidays, your kidneys are probably overworked. Help them out by exercising.
