“Every part of your body has its own consciousness or its own soul.”
I was spoken to by indigenous medicine women who told me this transformative thought. It helped me to begin my journey into the miraculous healing capacity of the body. The perspective was different to me, but due to my suffering from a chronic pain disorder, I wasn’t going to look away from it.
When I would perform my daily meditation, I would start to add in this perspective. I would think: Can my body understand me? Can I speak to it to attain its cooperation in healing my pain?
It was that exact night, that after achieving a state of consciousness in meditation, I would receive the unexpected. After focusing on this communication with my body for an hour, my body tissues began to respond. Scar tissue was stretched apart while connective tissue pulled back. My nerves were activated and my calves began to perform extension and flexion exercises free of my control.
My once paralyzed calf muscle, that suffered from Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy, was brought back to normal. I was instantly free of the chronic pain that I had suffered from.
I have a solid background in Oriental medicine and acupuncture, and understand that there is a lot of people in the country suffering from chronic pain.
My condition improved and it was then that I turned my approach into a form of therapy called hypnotherapy, that I could use with my clients.
When I go through the instructions with my clients, I give them an explanation on why meditating daily is essential in training the body to go into theta and alpha brain wave states. It is when you are in these states, that communication with the physical body and conscious minds is enhanced.
In my observation, I have discovered that when you are communicating to the body, there are three steps that are essential in attaining cooperation from your body:
• Approach your body with genuine compassion, understanding that it is made up of conscious cells who experience emotions.
• Build trust by engaging your body in positive mental conversations about your desire for the two of you to cooperate and overcome the ailment.
• Allow changes in the conversation by using different thoughts and words that elicit spontaneous elevated emotions.
The instructions above are very important in achieving a healing response from your body. I read over factors found by Cleve Backster, a researcher that spent 36 years studying biocommunication in animal, human and plant cells.
The factors were referred to as attunement, spontaneity and real intent. Backster, a former interrogation specialist for the CIA, wrote about the moment that brought him to his world purpose, in a book he wrote called Primary Perception.
It all started on a February morning in 1966 when he examined the Dracaena Fragrans plant with some polygraph equipment. He attached the electrodes to a leaf and began to think about ways that could spark a surge in electrical activity within the plant. In humans, this electrical activity is associated with intense emotions.
He suddenly imagined burning the electroded leaf. The same instant this idea entered his mind, the polygraph pen shot to the top of the chart showing an extreme reaction on the part of the plant. Amazed, he walked to his secretary’s desk to retrieve a set of matches while contemplating over the possibility that the plant was somehow detecting the force of human intention.
When he returned with the matches, the plant was at the high level reaction where it interferes with tracking additional changes on the chart. Backster decided to “remove the threat” by returning the matches to the desk. At this point, the chart displayed a downward trend as the plant calmed down.
When Backster attempted to repeat the same results by pretending that he was going to burn the plant, there was no reaction.
The plant seemed to sense the difference between real and artificial intent. He eventually discovered that plants become attuned to their primary care takers, responding to both their positive and negative emotions and to their return after being away for a time. Chart findings also showed that plants prioritize the emotions of their primary care takers over the emotions of others nearby.
Backster’s research to include testing human cells for signs of consciousness. Was later expanded upon He collected white blood cells from human donors, electroded them in a test tube and recorded the cells’ reactions. It was found that spontaneous emotions were necessary in order to elicit an electrical reaction in the cells. An example, if a donor forced herself to feel an emotion, the cells would cease to respond back.
However, when she received a distressing phone call from her daughter, the cells reacted. He noted that distance seemed to be irrelevant in these experiments. For example, a donor left his electroded cells behind in the lab, then kept a detailed log of any stressful emotions experienced on his trip home to another state, such as missing a turn on the freeway, standing in a long line at the airport, and the take-off of his plane. Later, his logged incidents compared with the chart recording links between the timing of the stressful events and the electrical reactions in his cells. The chart grew quiet when he arrived at home and slept.
These experiments were conducted with equipment that screened out electromagnetic radiation. The cells acted as if the screens weren’t there, hinting that this communication is carried by a field still unidentified by science. Some scientists believe further developments in quantum physics could help educate us to understand this field that communicates emotional intent between living things.
Quantum Entanglement is a process where two particles of matter which have interacted with each other, still act as if they’re connected after separation. When an energetic change is made to the properties (position, momentum and rotational spin) of one of the particles, the properties of the other distant particle will instantly change.
Cleve Backsters research and this scientific phenomena all link to the Eastern concept of being one, the view that nature is interdependent. In ancient times, a lot of ancient civilizations believed this interconnection to be a live universal energy field that maintains life while leading the way for consciousness evolution within the world. The techniques for meditation within my practice helps to bring the mind into attunement with the energy field.
The energy from the field is then shifted into physical healing through clear intention, delivered by a conversation that brings up emotions spontaneously, and attunes the physical body to the mind. This is Antara (Sanskrit for within), a method which enables a person to experience the ability to heal thats generated from the cooperation of the mind and body with the universal energy field.
